Strengthening the Residence Permit System

1. All identity and address information, including biometric data, of all foreigners holding a residence permit are obtained.

2. Residence permit applications for tourism purposes are rejected by those who enter our country with a student visa and medical treatment visa.

3. As of February 10, 2022, the applications of foreigners who enter our country and request a residence permit for tourism purposes for the first time are rejected.

4. In order to prevent obtaining a residence permit by buying a house with a low amount, residence permits are not granted for title deed sales under 75 thousand US dollars in metropolitan cities and 50 thousand US dollars in other cities.

5. In order to prevent fake rental contracts, notary approved rental agreements are required for residence permit requests of foreigners.

6. In order to prevent fraud in private health insurances that foreigners with residence permits have to take out, a systemic control mechanism has been introduced and made functional, thereby reducing the possible burdens on our health system.
