Foreigners Doing Doctoral Studies in Turkey

Vocational universities have fees for their postgraduate programs that can burn a hole in one’s pocket. For instance, the annual fee for a doctoral program of $8000 may amount to $32000 over four years. In some universities, foreign students pay over $45000.

In contrast, no fee is charged to students in state universities, while fees are charged for second-degree on-site/non-thesis master’s and distance non-thesis master’s programs in foundations. In foundations, the fees have reached astronomical figures. For example, in some universities, the annual fee for a doctoral program of $8000 may amount to $32000 over four years, and foreign students pay more than $45000.

We have looked at the fees for universities’ master’s and doctoral programs. For example, in Yeditepe University, fees for thesis master’s programs start at $1200 per semester and can go up to $8000 per year. For doctorates, fees start at $2000 per semester and can go up to $8000 per year. Master’s programs consist of at least four semesters, and doctoral programs consist of at least eight semesters. In this case, a student who continues with a doctorate should bear in mind a total of $32000.
